Skills for Travel Business Letters’ Writing

English correspondence broadly falls into two categories：business letter and private letter．A well-written business letter for travel has six parts：
（1） Heading：the full address of the sender．
（2） Inside address：the name and full address of the addressee．It is always omitted in private letter．
（3） Salutation：a greeting to the addressee．When you don’t know the name or sex of your addressee，use“Dear Sir or Madam”．
（4） Body：the main part of the letter．The specific idea in the main body should be expressed accurately，briefly and clearly．
（5） Complimentary close：the conventional ones include“Yours sincerely”，“Truly yours”and“Yours faithfully”，etc．
（6） Signature：a handwritten signature．

Some letters may also include enclosure（other material besides the letter in the envelop）and postscript（something additional to say after you have finished the letter）．Generally speaking，any formal letter should try to avoid postscript，which may indicate carelessness of the letter writer．
Good business letter for travel present what the writer wants and what the company or institution should be，so the letter must be COMPLETE so that reader is given all the necessary information；the letter must be CONCISE because reader is likely to be a busy person with no time to waste；the letter must be COURTEOUS because the receiver should be addressed in a sincere，polite tone；the letter must be CORRECT because reader may get a bad impression if there are mistakes in grammar，punctuation and spelling．
